Week of June 5, 2017

Dear friends and family,

As I'm sure you may already suspect, the Lord has blessed me with yet another wonderful week! I have witnessed miracles and have stood back in awe as I have witnessed the Lord's hand in all of the work I have done. It feels wonderful to be a tool in His hand.

This last week, Elder Olsen and I were extraordinarily busy. We had a meeting in Cauayan for all of the new leaders on Wednesday, exchanges with a set of zone leaders as well on Wednesday, and our Mission Leadership Council Meeting on Thursday. We were blessed to feel the Spirit in abundance in both of the meetings and I felt grateful for the help we received. You know, when I was new in the mission, I always thought that the assistants must have had weeks to prepare, as their presentations were always so inspiring! However, I have since learned by experience that they probably only had about a couple of days to do so. It is true that when you walk into a meeting you have only had a few hours to think about that you get a little anxious, but every time we teach, I feel the Lord speak through me and in result I always seem to know what to say. It is true that "whom the Lord calls He qualifies."

In regards to our work, everything is going wonderfully! We are working with a few part-member families, have been able to contact some referrals, etc. However, there is specific experience we had in our work last week that I would like to share with you.

Quite a long time ago, Elder Olsen and I taught a young fellow named Jhomar. After a few weeks of teaching him though, it was evident he wasn't too interested; thus, we stopped going to his house. One time we went to his house though, he had a friend with him. His friend didn't seem to interested either, so Elder Olsen and I didn't think too much about him. But, last week while Elder Olsen and I were driving, I saw Jhomar's friend on the roadway and the Spirit told me to go visit him. A week passed, and the opportunity finally arrived in order for us to follow the prompting I received. There was only on problem: I didn't know his name, I didn't know exactly where he lived, and Jhomar wasn't home for me to ask him.

As I pondered over the problem we had, the only thing I could think to do was to pray. I prayed silently in my heart that I might remember his name and after about thirty seconds, a name did come to mind, "Angelo." Not being sure if the name was right, but having faith it was, we asked the first person along the road if they knew who Angelo was. And, to our blessing, the name was right, the person knew who he was, and she even directed us right to Angelo's compound (a group of homes that usually belongs to one family).

When we arrived at Angelo's compound, we found quite a few people drinking. Having no other individuals for which to give an inquiry regarding which house was Angelo's, we settled on asking them. One of the men told us he was sorry, as Angelo had gone somewhere and was not home. However, just as Elder Olsen and I were turning around to go to another appointment, Angelo walked up to where we were standing and wanted to be taught. How else could you explain this wonderful occurrence except to say it was destined by God? I am so grateful for the help we received and for the wonderful lessons we have had as well with Angelo since that time.

My experience in my mission has proved the statement true that He "will tell [us] in [our] mind and in [our] heart" (D&C 8:2) those things we stand in need of knowing, for "this is the spirit of revelation" (D&C 8:3). If we but allow the Spirit to "dwell in [our] heart" through obedience to the Lord's commandments, we will see the fulfillment of this promise in each one of our lives. It is my prayer that we will.

Have a wonderful week!

Love,

Elder Pulley
